Winter Solstice, 7am-3pm by Emily Sheffer

$50.00

Winter Solstice, 7am–3pm, 2024 is a handmade accordion book featuring reproductions of nine cyanotypes, each representing one hour of daylight on the shortest day of the year. Beginning at 7am and ending at 3pm, each print was exposed to the sun for a different duration, allowing the changing winter light to create the image. Sensitive to UV light, the cyanotypes record the sun’s varying intensity and mark the passage of time. The book becomes a meditation on light, duration, and the subtle shift toward longer days.
